The City of Stirling knows that LEDs are today’s most energy efficient lighting technology, awarding a recent tender for us to brighten up (and make greener) their popular Leisurepark Balga.
Perdaman Advanced Energy (previously Enigin WA) has just completed an LED lighting upgrade of Leisurepark Balga. The City secured funding from the Australian Government’s Department of Industry and Science as part of the Community Energy Efficiency Program (CEEP) to undertake the project. The project was based on a competitive tender to supply and install new energy efficient lighting throughout the facility.
Our successful upgrade reduced the energy consumed by lighting at the site from 123,253 kWh to 52,002 kWh per annum, a reduction of over 58%.
Importantly, this energy saving did not compromise the amount of light the facility received from the new LEDs. In fact, the lux levels improved considerably from the existing inefficient luminaires as you can see from these pictures.
Quality LED lamps last longer, are more durable and offer comparable or better light quality than other types of lighting.
We also replaced the existing 150 W street lights in the car park and water playground, specifying a combination of 100 W and 50 W Hella Eco Streetline luminaires, which feature a 20-year guarantee on spare parts.
The project’s long-term aim is to sustainably reduce the facility’s energy consumption and achieve measurable improvements in overall lighting quality. It will also reduce asset management and maintenance costs, improve facility security and encourage the uptake of energy efficient lighting solutions in the broader community.
The significant improvement achieved by this lighting upgrade is evident and is another example of consumers taking control of their energy efficiency.
Upgrading the leisure centre’s car park lights with LEDs by HELLA had a noticeable improvement on the brightness of the area – improving both the safety and aesthetic outcomes.
