The business and environmental case for clean energy generation has never looked more compelling and we are significantly expanding our business development team across Western Australia to ensure we have the capacity to unlock opportunities for our customers.
It’s my great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Manager Business Development at such a pivotal time for Perdaman Advanced Energy (PAE) and for the Australian energy market in general.
I can’t remember a week this year where a new major renewable energy project hasn’t been announced. For example, last week I attended the packed Energy & Mines conference here in Perth where GMA Garnet announced a $8 million, 3MW wind and solar farm with battery storage at its site in Port Gregory 60km south of Kalbarri. A week earlier, it was Victorian agribusiness company Nectar Farms announcing the company was moving to 100% renewable power with a 196MW wind farm and 20MW of battery storage.
The fact is, despite energy policy having become a federal political football, 2017 is set to become a breakthrough year at all levels across the clean energy sector, from small scale to utility scale. Drivers such as soaring power prices; concerns over energy security and reliability; plummeting renewable energy technology costs; the dynamic capabilities of battery storage; and access to capital via a range of funding models, are driving a transition and clean energy projects are firmly on the radar of business and government.
It is in this context that I am also very pleased to welcome three additional members to PAE’s business development team: Gary Watson, Aaryn Johannsen and Brendon Grylls. We now have a footprint encompassing the south-west, metropolitan and north-west regions of Western Australia. The team is extremely diverse with an enormous amount of commercial and political experience, and we have a shared passion for seeing the market develop.
We all look forward to supporting our customers on their clean energy journey by providing packaged, turn-key solutions for energy efficiency, distributed generation, micro-grid and embedded network projects; supported through expert consulting, project development and asset management services.
