669kW Solar PV System
In 2018, PAE won a competitive tender for the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) installation of 669 kW of Solar PV for Christchurch Grammar School.
Outcomes
PAE successfully completed the >150kW technical grid-connection application with Western Power; all procurement and construction to ensure the project was delivered within budget and energised on schedule.
Consisting of 2,047 solar panels, spread across nine different school buildings, Christchurch Grammar School becomes the largest solar school in WA. The system will produce 1.01 GWh annually, which is the equivalent of planting 5,771 trees!
Making the complex simple
The distributed nature of the panels and inverters around the campus created a significant challenge when combining the grid protection to all inverter locations across 9 different campus buildings. PAE’s solution using HF Radio communication to transmit signals to the grid protection base unit simplified this complexity and delivered to the strict grid protection requirements of Western Power.
