100kW SOLAR SYSTEM, The Mezz Shopping Centre
One of WA’s largest shopping centre owners and property groups – Hawaiian, selected PAE in 2018 to design, supply, install and commission a 100kW PV system to the Mezz Shopping Centre in Mt Hawthorn. An analysis of the site’s electricity consumption was conducted to accurately calculate the optimal system size for the site and the most appropriate site meters to connect the system into. This ensured the client can feed the solar into common services meters only. The project was undertaken without accident or incident, in a similar working environment as the proposed APIL projects, and delivered on-time within the budget of a Lump Sum contract.
Issues Managed
The roof space utilized for the PV system was directly above an operational Woolworths Supermarket. This meant installation was subject to meeting Woolworths strict operating procedures. The only delivery point for materials was at the main delivery point for Woolworths trucks. PAE overcame this by coordinating critical crane lifts with Woolworths and the owner with only a 1-hour window. Multiple crane lifts were successful, and safety was not compromised at any point during the lift.
Outcomes
PAE successfully delivered the 100kW project per Mezz Shopping Centre’s agreed timeframe on 22/12/17 and within the project budget. The project was completed without accident or incident.
